Twisted Perspective = Alternate Reality

In my last blog, we were pondering over the topic of perceptions.

How reality is a different for everyone based on their perceptions.

We build our perceptions based on the inputs of our five natural senses ( Touch, Taste, Smell, Hear and See). Add to this the life experiences collected so far, which constitute in our perception building.

But what if the inputs from the five natural senses are cross-wired ?!

Lets hear it from Neil Harbisson, a man who can hear colours ! :)

The reality that we perceive through our five senses is just one dimensional !

The truth is we live in a universe of infinite dimensions.

The Life of choice.

We are the choices we make.

In my journey of understanding the life, if I have to list the all the leanings or the discoveries so far
this one will definitely be on the top.

Like everyone else, I grew up with a major misconception that life just happens to us and we are a part of it.  The misconception that we exist in Reality and we have to adjust ourselves to be part of the Reality. The belief that our life is driven by external circumstances is purely a delusional.

The truth is Reality is totally subjective and a personal experience. My reality is entirely shaped by the choices I make.

The choice like... the people I chose to be friends with,  the things I chose to spend my time on, the books I chose to read,  the trips I chose to go on,  the job I chose to take up , the person I chose to marry, the opportunity I chose to let go. Everything that I chose not to do, is also just equally important as all the things I chose to do.  All these choices I have made or not made till now has shaped my life and my  reality.

No mater how impossible or unreal it may appear, how irrational it may sound to our mind, but we always have a choice .. the choice of living the life we want !

Our consciousness... the true self,  always knows what it wants, and can guide us,  if only it is allowed to express. The decision to listen to our intuition and not logic is also a choice.

So whats your choice ?

Nothing is Real. Everything is just a perspective.

There is no reality !

Yes.. you heard that right. There is no reality.

How do we define anything as real ?

Most scientifically correct answer would be... 'real' is anything that we can 'sense' through our five senses or "Pancha Indriyas" ... which are see, hear, touch, taste and smell.

And probably we can count our sixth sense too .. which is intuition or common sense or just mind.. whatever you choose to call it.

But then these senses are specific to our body alone. And when I say body it means mind and body… brain being just another organ in the body.

Okay lets consider an example…..  You are in a room with few other living beings like an owl, a chameleon , a spider and an insect with multiple eyes.

The way an owl perceives the same room is different.. because it senses the surroundings using its ultrasonic capabilities.

The way an insect with hundred eyes sees the room is very different.

The number of colors a Chameleon sees in the same room is unimaginable !

So whose perception of reality is correct ? Answer is..  everyone is right. Yes everyone is right.

We humans are too egoistic. We believe that the world as “we” see or as “we” perceive is real and everything else is not ! But the fact is it is just another perception.

So whats my point here? How does understanding this “truth” help you in your everyday life ?

It may have different effects on different people.

I have found peace. There are no conflicts of interests anymore !

I don’t get into an argument anymore. I don’t see a point in arguing about anything that does not affect me… because I know the other person is right in his own way. He is right because he has different perspective of the same shared reality !!

What about other arguments where it is critical that I prove my point.

Well.... my understanding of the “truth” helps me here again. Knowing that I understand why other person is saying what he is saying,  I can use that baseline to change his perspective. Or at least make him see both the perspectives. This is altogether a new dimension in an argument methodology !

Knowing this concept of perspectives helps me live with an open mind.  Which in turn helps in every aspect of life.
